International Students (Fee-paying)

Fees apply to international students who wish to study with the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Fees include ESL program instruction if required, and transportation services, if the student's residential address meets the distance criteria. Transportation is also provided to ESL Centres at high schools that fall outside the regular boundaries of the student's primary residence. As of 2012, our Board accepts fee-paying international students at all grade levels - elementary, intermediate and secondary. 

Tuition fees do NOT apply to:

  • students whose parents are in Canada on a work permit or a study permit;
  • a student whose parent is enrolled in a full-time program at a university, college, or institution receiving an operating grant;
  • children of Diplomats (immediate family only - nieces and nephews must pay fees);
  • refugees or permanent residents;
  • a person awaiting determination of an application for permanent residence who has obtained a "Stage 1 Approval Letter" from Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Please contact the Ottawa Catholic School Board Admissions Department for more information. 

To register an international student, please contact the Board's Admissions Department. Upon payment of fees and supplying proof of medical insurance coverage to the Admissions Department, a letter of acceptance will be issued which is required to obtain a study permit. A study permit is required for all fee-paying international students unless they are in Canada for less than 6 months. You will also be directed to contact our Board's Family Welcome Centre. In addition to assessing needs and helping the student enter the classroom, their friendly staff will assist families with the process of acquiring proper immunizations for the student, as required.

Payment of Fees

  • Fees for secondary school students (grades 9 to 12)  are $11,000 per year (or $5,500 per semester for students attending one semester only). 
  • Fees for elementary school students (kindergarten to grade 6) and intermediate school students (grades 7 and 8) are $9,500 per year. 

Fees are payable by certified cheque, money order or bank draft or electronic bank transfer. The student's name must appear on the transaction. When paying by bank draft, payment should be made to:
