New Director of Education announced
The Board of Trustees for the Ottawa Catholic School Board has selected Julian Hanlon as the new Director of Education. Mr. Hanlon is currently Deputy Director of Education and will assume his new role on September 1, 2010. He succeeds retiring director James McCracken. Mr. Hanlon began his career in education with the former Carleton Roman Catholic School Board as a teacher in 1979. After becoming a department head and a vice-principal, he was principal of Notre Dame High School and St. Mark High School, as well as a system principal in Staff Development. Later, as Superintendent of Schools, he brought leadership skills and insight to his portfolio in Human Resources. Mr. Hanlon has been Deputy Director of Education since 2003. New Deputy Director of Education announced
Director of Education (elect) Julian Hanlon announced the appointment of Ms. Denise Andre to the position of Deputy Director of Education and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, effective September 1, 2010. Ms. Andre has been with the Ottawa Catholic School Board for 32 years and has served as a teacher, department head, vice-principal, principal, and since 2003, as a superintendent. Ms. Andre has chaired many system-level committees and worked with partners inside and outside the school system. “Denise’s experiences to date have prepared her well for this and the Board is fortunate to have an educational leader of her calibre in our midst,” said Mr. Hanlon.
