Doug Tateishi, Education Officer with the Ministry of Education, would be happy to provide direct support
to your school council with preparing potential PRO grants.

Parents play a vital role in publicly funded education. Ontario's Parents Reaching Out grants are designed to encourage parents to become involved in their children's education and to support student learning at the school, regional and provincial levels. The grants can be awarded to school councils and/or school boards to support school-based initiatives focussing on engaging parents who may experience challenges in becoming involved in the school due to language barriers, recent immigration, poverty or other factors.

There are two types of grants:

    • School councils (only) can apply for Parents Reaching Out Grants for Schools
    • Parent organizations, school boards, non-profit organizations and postsecondary institutions can apply for Parents Reaching Out Grants for Regional/Provincial Projects.
    • For information on the two grants, examples of past projects and application procedures please read the flyer.

Applications are now being accepted ONLINE for the 2010-2011 school year. The deadline is May 13, 2011.
