St. Patrick School Lights it up Blue!

light-it-up-blueTraci Stork Clark, a mother of a grade 4 student at St.Patrick School in Barrhaven was touched when her son's school came together to show their support for her son by increasing awareness of Autism in the month of April. This past winter, her son was diagnosed with being on the Autism spectrum. The caring community at St. Patrick School jumped to action to support her son and help students learn about Autism. During the month of April, they organized a series of activities for Autism awareness. "It really helped my son understand that he was not alone and that there are other kids like him" said Traci.

Each class watched a short video explaining Autism, and one day everyone wore blue to show their support for the day. Education Assistants Kelly Cockwell and Cindy Barrett also had each student made a light bulb which went on the wall to creatue a beautiful "Light it up Blue" display. Way to go St. Patrick School! You are a great example for us to learn from when it comes to being part of a caring and inclusive community!
