Board Spiritual Theme

 2009/2010

If we took a moment out of our busy lives to get outdoors, or to even imagine that special place, we would remember that the beauty of God’s creation heals us, bringing us to touch with our deeper spiritual needs.  God’s creation recreates us.  This appreciation, this celebration, this respect for God’s Creation is the starting pint of our spiritual theme.

In the words of Pope John Paul II, “God’s glory is revealed in the natural world, yet we humans are presently destroying creation.  In this light, the ecological crisis is also a profoundly religious crisis.  In destroying creation we are limiting our ability to know and love God…  The ecological crisis is a moral issue and the responsibility of everyone.”

The future of all life on the planet, including humanity, calls us to respond on many levels, the spiritual, oral, scientific, economic, political, with a variety of educational and active initiatives.  The spiritual theme, We Care for God’s Creation, will challenge us and engage us in very real ways.
