OSAID works to promote the issue of sober and safe driving!

OSAID (Ontario Student's Against Impaired Driving) was established at St. Pius X in September 2007. In Canada four people are killed and approximately 207 are injured each day due to alcohol and drug-related crashes. Creating awareness, sensitivity, and hope with respect to impaired driving is important to our OSAID team because we believe in the dignity and value of all human persons. In our community, we know of students who have lost their lives because they drove impaired or they were in a car with an impaired driver. We believe that everyone's life is precious and we want people to know that impaired driving is one hundred percent preventable.

It is the goal of OSAID to make a positive impact and difference in both our school and community. This year, our Co-Presidents of OSAID are Jamie-Lee Yasbley and Bianca Santaromita Villa. Jamie-Lee and Bianca, along with the OSAID team, strongly believe in the value and importance of saving lives. Our message is simple; do not drive impaired or let someone else drive impaired. Knowing that impaired driving is the number one cause of death of teenagers, and knowing that impaired driving is one hundred percent preventable, we want to do everything in our power to be the voices that echo throughout our school and community to ensure that people 'arrive alive'.
